Obama Met Privately With Controversial Muslim Leader

The Muslim leader is one Imam Hassan Qazwini, head of the Islamic Center of America, based in Michigan.

Imam Hassan Qazwini, head of the Islamic Center of America, said in an email that he met with Obama at Macomb Community College. A mosque spokesman, Eide Alawan, confirmed that the meeting took place. During the meeting, the two discussed the Presidential election, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the Iraq war, according to Qazwini.

The meeting with Obama came about after Qazwini had asked David Bonior, the former U.S. Rep. from Michigan, if he could meet with Obama during his visit. Qazwini was not selected to be part of a group of 20 people who met with Obama, but Qazwini later got a private meeting with Obama, Alawan said.

Debbie Schlussel has more background on Qazwini.

I’ve written about Qazwini and his mosque for almost a decade. He is tight with the Government of Iran, and he is an agent of the Iranian government, spreading its propaganda. He was sent to the U.S. by Iran to help radicalize his mosque, the Islamic Center of America, which–at the time–was becoming moderate with women not covering their hair and mixing with men. All that has changed, under Qazwini.

Qazwini is very open about his support for Palestinian homicide bombings, HAMAS, and Hezbollah. And he’s a good friend of Hezbollah spiritual leader, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah–the man who issued the fatwa to Hezbollah terrorists to murder over 300 U.S. Marines and U.S. Embassy civilians in cold blood. Qazwini’s mosque has held rallies and celebrations in support of Hezbollah, and many of Hezbollah’s biggest money-launderers and agents in America are his congregants.

When I went undercover to his mosque in 1998, he and others welcomed Nation of Islam chief racist Louis Farrakhan as “our dear brother” and “a freedom fighter.” Qazwini applauded Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic statements saying that Jews were the “forces of Satan” and that there needed to be a “jihad” on the American people.

So tell me again, why Jews, or anyone should support an Obama Presidency?

  1. “Qazwini has also met several times with President Bush and other elected officials.”

A member of jihadwatch.org is not exactly the most authoritative source for reliable information. More like libel. Try CNN or some of the other stuff on wikipedia.

In any case, does Obama’s willingness to listen to all sides of an argument make him a treacherous snake, or a wise leader?

What is reason for specuataion if a public leader spoke to an Imam who has a same role as a Rabbi or a priest speculative in your view? The negative view of muslims were created by Jews and manipulated by Jews to make sure we have some enemy and keep selling the weapons to American govt. with the use of lobbyists and other rats than hang around Washington. Why keep creating false enemies for absulotely no reason. The real reason world gets mad at Isreal is because it keeps uprooting people from their own homes where they lived for centuries and knows no other home. No matter how much Israel tries to hide its crime, truth is getting out and people know what is really causing this rift. We should be taking care of real issues in the world like BURMA/ AFRICA / North korea etc. and stop supporting a country who continously oppresses its own people and the neighbors.

I heard from a friend who knew the brother of somebody he worked with a few weeks ago while at Obama’s campaign, he overheard another friend of his some months ago heard from another co-worker that helped Obama at a rally that Obama is a gay alien who frequently voices his displeasure with Israel. He must be AN ANTI-SEMITE!

  5. How can anyone make fun of such a serious threat? Must be the little MTV raised rockstar mentality types who are too star glazed to see anything else. Jews should be very afraid of Obama. He has too many terrorist ties and hangs out with too many people who hate our country and Israel… But the main stream media doesn’t talk about all of this do they? Why has no one asked Obama why his Middle East advisor was secretly meeting with Hamas, or why Obama has had secret meetings with a Hezbolah agent as well… or why so many of his advisors are anti-Israel. Or why Obama referred to Israel as a constant sore? How about why he belongs to a church that gave Farrakhan a lifetime award even though he called Judaism a gutter religion, and why his church passed out pro Hamas and pro Hezbollah writings to their members? Or why his mentor of 20 years preached hatred for whites and Jews – or even why Rev. Wright and Obama both converted from Islam to black liberation theology? Or why Palestinians are phone banking for Obama and Hamas is rooting for him? Yes, Jews should be very afraid – and so should America.

  6. Jew for Obama, one could use your argument to promote negotiations with Hitler. And Ron, Israel’s enemies are like the medieval Kingdoms of anywhere: Monarchs have absolute power. Now, I know that described folks like Ahab and Jeroboam, but while Israel does have leaders that are leftist and therefore harmful to its people, they aren’t as bad as Israel’s Muslim neighbors. In fact, some nations, like Iran, can be compared to North Korea in terms of tyranny, and some, like Lebanon, can be compared to Burma in terms of how chaotic the situation has become.
Also, Israel’s land belongs to Israel. They were uprooted by various peoples: Assyrians, Babylonians, Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, and Ottomans. Now that those peoples are gone from the Middle East and the Holocaust occurred in Europe, can you blame the Jews for wanting to return to Israel?

I am a Democrat. I could support either Democratic candidate. I think that there are a lot of paranoid people out there who are willing to come up with any reason no matter how trivial or how tenuous the connection to support what they believe to be the truth. Anybody who believes that we as a country are going in the right direction with the Wars (Iraq, Afghanistan) and the economy (gas prices, jobs, foreclosures) are living on another planet. The current administration has proven that a healthy dose of paranoia will turn many Americans into GOPHERS as in “GO FOR ANYTHING”. We seem to need lots of enemies now. It is hard to tell friend from foe. Seems like religion has taken on a greater level of importance. No separation of church and state here. If you believe that any of the three main candidates will change America so radically that it will somehow be more at risk or threatened you need to crawl out from under that rock. The biggest difference between the three is a matter of perception and what our own individual agendas are. Regardless just go vote and be happy that you have the opportunity.

  8. Felton, the war may be a mistake, but it would be just another one to back out now. To do that would make the war a waste of effort. In addition, the Iranians may take over Iraq and complete their goal of annihilating Israel and the West.
As for the economy, I do agree that it’s going in the wrong direction. However, I hear that some of Bill Clinton’s actions, such as higher taxes and creating a set minimum of loans to minorities, is hat destroyed the economy. So in other words, maybe a Republican could fix it. Anyway, higher taxes to provide free this and free that certainly won’t solve economic problems.

  9. Quote of the year from ‘The Audacity Of Hope,”I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds in an ugly direction” -Senator Barack Obama.

  10. Look at what the Islamists pump into the minds of kids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4suoNOSrleI&feature=related

  11. Are these the Muslims Barack says he will stand with?

  14. Seems pretty interesting, looks like Obama’s got his work cut out for himself.

While I’m here, I was also looking at the weekly democratic nominee polls, and it’s almost amazing how Barack Obama came from a 28% deficit to taking the lead over Hilary Clinton just weeks before the democratic caucus.

What do you think of that?

  15. That article is completely ridiculous.

1- Sayyid Qazwini has met with Madeline Albright and George Bush. George Bush invites him for iftaar every year, I believe.

2- “He is tight with the Government of Iran” : Actually, from what I understand, although he studied in Qom, he is not a supporter of Wilayatul Faqih, which is the system of government currently in place in Iran.

3- “He was sent to the U.S. by Iran to help radicalize his mosque, the Islamic Center of America, which–at the time–was becoming moderate with women not covering their hair and mixing with men. All that has changed, under Qazwini.” : Lies about being sent from Iran to help “radicalize” the mosque. If modernity is women not covering their hair and women mixing with men, then yes… that doesn’t happen at Islamic Center of America. I don’t know how this possibly relates to Sayyid Qazwini being a radical or extreme in any sense of the word.

4- His support of Palestine is known… what he personally thinks of Hamas and suicide bombing- I’m not sure. But, his opinion would not be any different, I’m sure, than a non-Muslim who is supportive of the Palestinian cause.

5- Sayyid Fadlallah is the definition of moderation in Lebanon. Yes, he did support the bombing in Lebanon of the US Marines in the 1980’s. However, given the context of Lebanon at the time and the unwanted US military (yes, military) presence, I doubt that this is cause to call him a terrorist.

Anyway, this article is ridiculous. I hope people can see through it.

  16. What is iftaar? And wouldn’t it be in the news if Bush did that?

  17. And where did you get your information?

  18. the flick ? what flick ? nowhere to be seen !!!

  19. When were we talking about a flick???
